What We Do

Patriot Guardens provides non-formal agricultural education and hands-on learning opportunities to veterans, active duty members of the military and their​ families. This grant-funded program provides assistance and support to everyone from backyard hobbyists and start-up business owners to the seasoned professional farmer.​

Funding

This program is grant-funded, including salaries. Grants have been secured through private, state, and federal agencies such as West Virginia American Water, West Virginia Department of Agriculture, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Department of Environmental Protection, Farm Credit, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and USDA.​

Looking Ahead

The goal for this program is to provide services and support on an ongoing basis while building capacity for Patriot Guardens to become self-sustaining through revenue streams from the sale of agricultural products, educational workshops, and joint ventures.
